THE LAKE KÖNIGSSEE AND ST. BARTHOLOMA

LAKE KÖNIGSSEE

Mirror, mirror on the wall, what is the name of the most beautiful lake in the country?

"The Königssee" is the answer of many of our visitors. No wonder, of course, because with its crystal-clear, emerald-green water, Lake Königssee spreads a uniquely enchanted, fairytale-like atmosphere.

Numerous fish cavort in its depths and on the surface of the water the rugged rock walls of the great Watzmann and his children are reflected in a picturesque way.

ST. BARTHOLOMA

St. Bartholomä, the symbol of the Königssee, can only be reached by boat. The world-famous pilgrimage church, the first parts of which date back to the 12th century, lies picturesquely on a peninsula. Next to it stands the former hunting lodge, which today serves as an idyllic inn.

Koenigssee Schönau a. Koenigssee is treated very carefully with the valuable heritage of the past. The historic hipped-roof ship huts are only one sign of this. Königssee shipping was already very progressive in 1909 and people were already thinking about the environment then. Since then, it has been possible to navigate the Königssee with electric motor boats, which still glide tranquilly across the lake today.

There are even more special features: Trumpets - or flugelhorn sounds resound repeatedly on the west side of the lake as an impressive echo.
