CLIMBING & MOUNTAINEERING

MOUNTAINING

Großgmain has 3 local mountains: the Untersberg, the Lattengebirge and the Hochstaufen. All three are very interesting for mountain hikers and alpinists. There are many different ways to reach the summit. Whether hiking, via ferrata or climbing tour you decide.

CLIMBING

The climbing garden in Karlstein played an important role in the development of sport climbing. In 1980 the first really difficult climbing routes were climbed. After that the "Huberbuam" climbed more and more difficult routes. Today many climbers are attracted by these great rocks. Nearby there is the "Katastrophenfels" in Schneizlreuth with very nice and a little bit easier routes.
