SALZBURG

The beautiful city on the Salzach River is the capital of the province of the same name and also the fourth largest city in Austria. Salzburg is not only known for its medieval city center or its magnificent baroque churches, but is also the birthplace of the famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Sound of Music

The film "The Sound of Music" tells the story of the Trapp family, who lived in Salzburg but fled to the USA from the Nazis during World War II. When the film was released in 1965, it was a box office hit from the beginning and won 5 Oscars (10 nominations). Even today the film is still one of the three most successful productions of all time.
