At Easter, Großgmain transforms into a huge, colourful open-air gallery: all around the village you’ll find 1.40 m tall wooden Easter eggs, lovingly designed by creative individuals, local businesses and associations. On a specially signposted Easter Egg Trail, locals and guests can discover this unique “Fr-EI-Luft Gallery” – free of charge, around the clock and right in the middle of nature.

WHAT IS THE GIANT EASTER EGG CAMPAIGN?

The giant Easter eggs are 140 cm high wooden eggs with a base, which participants can design entirely as they wish – painted, decorated, modelled or creatively transformed in any way they like. Afterwards, the artworks are placed at prominent spots throughout the village and marked on a walking map. This creates a lovingly curated Easter walk where every stop is a one-of-a-kind piece.

A HUGE SUCCESS IN 2025 – AND WE’RE TAKING IT FURTHER IN 2026

The relaunch of the campaign in 2025 was a great success: lots of visitors, enthusiastic feedback and media coverage that reached far beyond the Flachgau region. In 2026 we are building on this success – with even more eggs, even more variety and a clear invitation to creative minds from near and far to become part of the project.

We are deliberately opening the campaign to artists, clubs, businesses, institutions and private individuals from the entire region and beyond. Whether you are an urban studio, a family project, a club, a school or a company – everyone who enjoys creativity and community is warmly welcome.
