Children's Festival at the Salzburg Open-Air Museum....
A day full of fun, games and adventure awaits visitors of all ages at the traditional Salzburg Children's Festival at the Salzburg Open-Air Museum. The entire museum grounds are transformed into a colourful world of discovery, featuring numerous hands-on activities, creative craft workshops, traditional children's crafts and exciting attractions.
Children are invited to explore, create and try things out at a wide variety of interactive stations.
Highlights include the Sumsi straw jumping castle, the Salzburger Nachrichten craft workshop, the Green Wood Mobile, archery, and the Children's Police. The Austrian Red Cross offers a children's first-aid station, while the fire brigade invites young visitors to experience firefighting activities. The Austrian Nature Conservation Youth and the Scouts provide outdoor adventures, including a nature station and traditional stick bread baked over an open fire.
A varied stage programme adds even more entertainment, with performances by Sindri Puppet Theatre and Magician Tommi, whose spectacular magic show is sure to delight audiences of all ages.
Traditional crafts can also be experienced first-hand. Together with skilled artisans, children can make wooden rakes, bake bread, carve stone, create herb bouquets, dip candles, build wooden toys, forge rings, assemble simple radios, thread necklaces, braid friendship bracelets and much more. The programme is complemented by face painting, pumpkin decorating, weaving and fascinating insights into the work of local beekeepers.
Classic traditional children's games also invite everyone to join in, encouraging plenty of movement and outdoor fun.
Highlight: Hobby Horsing
One of the festival's special attractions is the Hobby Horsing station. Children are welcome to bring their own hobby horse or make a sock hobby horse on site. Afterwards, they can take part in a fun mini tournament on the obstacle course – everyone is welcome to join!
