Bad Reichenhall and its surrounding area played a key role in the development of the Untersberg legends, which are now famous far beyond the region.

Drawing on decades of research, the speaker has traced the origins of these legends and the many influences that shaped this rich collection of stories.

His findings show that many 19th-century collectors added to, altered or even invented the tales they recorded. In recent years, new stories associated with the Untersberg massif have also emerged. This makes it all the more worthwhile to explore the origins of the myth.
