Workshop "Konfliktlabor" im Salzburger FreilichtmuseumSpannungsfelder zwischen Sicherheit und Freiheit

The Conflict Lab – A Pilot Project at the Salzburg Open-Air Museum

What upsets me? What would I stand up for? How do I deal with conflict? And how can we create a society where conflicts are resolved constructively?

As part of this year's special focus on the 500th anniversary of the Peasants' Wars, the Salzburg Open-Air Museum presents the workshop "The Conflict Lab: Between Security and Freedom."

A peaceful society depends on a fair distribution of resources and equal opportunities for everyone. Yet conflicts continue to arise in schools, workplaces, and many other areas of everyday life where unequal power structures exist. Throughout history, people have challenged authority whenever they felt treated unfairly. Although the historical context has changed over the centuries, one question remains: Are today's conflicts rooted in the same fundamental patterns that led to the Peasants' Wars 500 years ago?

According to Marshall Rosenberg, every human action is ultimately an attempt to meet an underlying need. But how can we create a society in which people can freely express their needs while resolving conflicts peacefully and respectfully?

During the Conflict Lab Workshop, participants reflect on these questions and develop practical strategies for constructive communication and peaceful conflict resolution.

The Salzburg Open-Air Museum offers group workshops for school classes, young people, university students, and adults. Together with certified trainers, participants explore their own conflict behaviour while discussing topics such as conflict culture, democracy, and respectful coexistence.
